McGill University bestowed its highest honour upon a group of outstanding individuals at fall’s Convocation ceremonies on November 23, including the degree of Doctor of Science for Bernice Grafstein, an accomplished neuroscientist whose research has forwarded the understanding of fundamental mechanisms of the nervous system.

PBSB graduate student Armen Kherlopian from Dr. David Christini's Laboratory was selected for and participated as a U.S. delegate in the 61st Annual Nobel Laureates and Students Meeting in Lindau, Germany.

Subhi Al'Aref, M.D., a third-year resident in the Department of Medicine at New York Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical College, and a graduate of Weill Cornell Medical College-Qatar, was awarded the first prize at the Department's Seventeenth Annual David E. Rogers Memorial Research Award Competition on May 10, 2011 for research he conducted in the laboratory of Dr. Olaf S. Andersen. The title of Dr. Al'Aref's presentation was "Statins Modify Bilayer Mechanical Properties."
